Well, there is the problem about apache not working by default with files without extension, but sure, adding the option is easy and cheap.

I think the filenames do not have to be stripped, just the urls. That is how Pelican does it, I just don't know how. Maybe web servers (apache) automatically strip it.

The way that this is usually implemented is to make each post a folder, with the post content in index.html in the folder.

So, you go to example.com/post but you're really looking at example.com/post/index.html.

Not too tough to implement, I think!
