honestly, I haven't looked at this in a long, long, time. @joergdietrich - is there a fix you can propose?

Well, nothing's really broken by this. The plugin works as expected. There's just a bit of code that does nothing at all but looks like it should do something. I'm not sure why the DictLoader doesn't work as expected, being totally new to jinja2. For my purposes I now call the HTMLExporter with template_file='pelicanhtml' and have moved the contents of the dictionary to a file pelicanhtml.tpl. Modifications of this file modify the output as expected.
