I don't think we're going to support IE8. IE9 is barely making the cut and might be phased out.

Perhaps. I'd rather PR than fork though, just so long as IE support isn't actually being phased out here. If it is, I'd rather use another library that embraces browser coverage, because that's what gives polyfills their value after all.

I'd probably wait until the major frameworks dropped IE8 support. At present, both Ember and React support IE8, and the PR to add IE8 support is very tiny.

We gave up trying to support old IE with regular fetch… instead built a fetch-like jsonp lib:-
