Pygments doesn't automatically support background colors for LaTeX output, like it does for HTML, so you have to do it manually. The bgcolor
option only works for code on a single page, as you've discovered. What you want to use is a proper framing/background color package, like mdframed
or tcolorbox
. You can wrap the minted
environment in environments from these packages. Or you can add frames from these packages to the minted
environment, using the etoolbox
package. For example,
\BeforeBeginEnvironment{minted}{\begin{mdframed}}
\AfterEndEnvironment{minted}{\end{mdframed}}
Also, tcolorbox
has options specifically for working with minted
.
