As for your question, sadly no. But this part has been here from the beginning so I'm pretty sure we should try to support it as much as possible.

I'm trying to convert this to helm, does @yorugac know if there is someone using the cert-manager/webhook part of the kustomize?

Sadly, I don't remember anything on this topic. It was entirely handled by Simme (I think).
