Hmm. No plans currently, but this could dovetail with some improvements I've been thinking about for the Substitution panel, that would let you change to different views - "Match inspector" (name TBD) could be one of them. I'll keep this open for now.

why dont just remove the truncate? the tooltip can handle larger text. or at least, truncate it to 400 characters. 20 is too short and even if the tooltip can't handle a whole book it can handle 400 chars.

In the short term, would it help if we truncated in the centre? For example showing the first 12 & last 8 characters in a group? We could bold or otherwise highlight the ellipsis to make it more clear

It would be great if the matched tooltip resized both horizontally and vertically to fit the resulting match string (to a certain max size). Right now it's too small and is a slight regression in usability from 1.x.

I also vote for this enhancement because for working with long texts I have backup online regex tester and I really like yours better. Thank you for great tool!

Could also perhaps highlight the group match in the text with a different color from the whole match.

This has been addressed with the "Details" tool, and will be improved further in v3.0
