Would this not be out of scope? If you don't know what characters should be escaped, why not just run re.escape(string) in python locally (or via an online interpreter)?

I can do that even manually, but it would be useful if by pressing button or hotkey website escape selected text.

Hmm. I can see the use, but it's definitely outside the core scope of the application. I'll keep it in the back of my mind in case I can think of a way to add it without overly complicating the UI. Our goal is to keep things as simple and approachable as possible.
