Yep, I can reproduce this, the last version I tested on was 2.0.3. In 2.1.1 it looks like the context variables map is missing from the execution data that is passed to the plugin. I'm not sure if this was an intentional change or not, but the documentation for 2.1.1 suggests the context variables map should be there, which suggests this is a rundeck bug. I'll raise an issue against the rundeck project and see what they say.

I'm intending on releasing a new version of the plugin in the next few days which will allow you to specify a FreeMarker template to use for generating the HipChat message, overriding the internal template that is used to generate the message currently. So if you don't need to display any of the context variables, then this feature would allow you to work around the issue by specifying a custom template without the invalid model references.

sorry, i think there was a regression in 2.1.x. I haven't had a chance to look into it.

Cool, just adding a reference to the rundeck issue for the missing context variables: rundeck/rundeck#764

I've just released a new version of the plugin (1.2.0 - release notes) which allows for a custom template to be specified. Can't yet see this on maven central, but it should be synced out in the next hour or so. As I mentioned above, using a custom template without any references to context variables would workaround this issue for now.
