Do you have python3-dev installed from your package manager? Also try running the script as a non-root user as running as root can sometimes cause problems with pip. I will be removing the pyaudio dependency soon, so it won't be a requirement in upcoming versions

I have python3-dev installed. I tried running it through

python3 update.py -y

and got the same error.
I have the folder in my root folder so it's tricky to run it as a different user. I will just wait until pyaudio isn't a dependency.

I found the issue, PyAudio requires PortAudio. Running sudo apt-get install portaudio19-dev before update.py solved the problem.
