That would be a lot of work! The entire backend of htop is based on procfs, so it would be something like rewriting half of the program... unfortunately I can't spare the time that would be necessary to do that... if there was enough interest I could do a fundraiser and work on that instead of the freelance jobs I've been taking lately (that would be fun!).

@eraserewind how odd, that page says "Sadly this part hasn't yet been started, due to the lack of collaboration of the htop author(s)" — certainly, there has been no collaboration from my part because I had never heard about stop!

@saatanaperkele I did some coding in a BSD VM when I was isolating the linux/ and unsupported/ parts of the code. I'll commit the stuff I had in a new freebsd branch. However, this branch is way behind the major reworkings I'm doing in the wip branch. Getting all branches in sync will take some work.
