That would be a lot of work! The entire backend of htop is based on procfs, so it would be something like rewriting half of the program... unfortunately I can't spare the time that would be necessary to do that... if there was enough interest I could do a fundraiser and work on that instead of the freelance jobs I've been taking lately (that would be fun!).

Some work on this has already been done: https://github.com/kAworu/stop

@eraserewind how odd, that page says "Sadly this part hasn't yet been started, due to the lack of collaboration of the htop author(s)" — certainly, there has been no collaboration from my part because I had never heard about stop!

@hishamhm hehe, i'm not the author so I don't know why it's here :)

Just gonna chime in and say I'd like to see this too!

I might be willing to do some work on this in the future, but I won't make any promises, just a teaser.

@saatanaperkele I did some coding in a BSD VM when I was isolating the linux/
and unsupported/
parts of the code. I'll commit the stuff I had in a new freebsd
branch. However, this branch is way behind the major reworkings I'm doing in the wip
branch. Getting all branches in sync will take some work.

Appreciate all the work, I've been laid off so I'll have some free time to hack at it soon.

Ouch, sorry to hear that! I wish you luck!
