You just have to change the PUID and PGID variables to be the UID and GID of the user you want the files owned by on the Docker host.
Run the id
command on your Docker host to find out what these numbers should be.
For example, if the output of id
is this:
uid=1000(pirate) gid=2000(pirate)
Your docker compose manifest would look like this:
homebridge:
image: oznu/homebridge:raspberry-pi
restart: always
network_mode: host
environment:
- TZ=Europe/Vienna
- PGID=2000
- PUID=1000
volumes:
- /home/pirate/docker-libertas/homebridge:/homebridge
If the container was not asking for a UID or GID, the files would just be owned by root (uid 0), meaning your user, pirate
, wouldn't be able to modify them without using sudo
.
