@hadim: Firstly, please do not ping an issue after only two days—especially over the weekend.
Anyway, I like this idea. However, there is one complication. We are planning to continue leaning heavily on the ImageJ 1.x UI for the initial ImageJ 2.0.0 release, since there are too many compatibility issues with the entirely new interface of ImageJ2. I am happy to make the new interface behave as you describe (it sounds great), but it may not be as straightforward or desirable to patch in that behavior to the 1.x interface.
We'll reevaluate after the initial 2.0.0 release, since this is something that can be added and/or patched in later.
