I'm aware of that and I've alerted Apple.
To be clear: selling of ImageOptim is fine, the GPL allows that if you don't take freedom away from the app's users.
The issue is that Apple puts legal and technical handcuffs on App Store users, preventing them from using the app any way they want and takes away their right to freely share and modify it, and that is against requirements of the GPL.
