Emacs is 24.3.1, lua-mode is latest git:

> git describe
rel-20130419-4-gd0fa50d

I reproduced with emacs -Q -l lua-mode.el --file funcs.lua where funcs.lua has the foo definitions mentioned above.

Ok, that was due to a recent refactoring commit, which I've just reverted. I've also added a test so that I won't break things again when I'll have time to re-apply it back.
