It also requires the user to reload VSCode completely in order to take effect
I think reconfiguring how it works in the updateSettings() method of the Yara class can make it take effect immediately

Got a working version in the diagnostics branch along with some config settings for specifying a custom path to the yarac binary and adding CLI flags

Config unittests are next

Finally some more progress! compile_on_save is set to false when the compiler isn't found. This means users have to restart their window when they fix their install_path setting, but that's far better than having that annoying pop-up every time they save a file

In addition, the Commands test suite was added with a test for the CompileRule command

Still have unittests for the configuration options left to do

This issue is 4 years old and hasn't had activity for 3 of them. Closing for now. Will open a new one with a better scope/implementation plan if I decide to revisit it
