This has been split into two parts. The first part covers:
- states and transitions of existing application level protocols, chain sync in particular
- corresponding prose descriptions
- general design of multiplexing, but no final wire level details (as these are TBD)

The first part is finished.
This will be an addition to the general network design document in the github repo.
It is unclear which documents are meant here.
The work can be found in ouroboros-network/doc/network.tex.
