That's a good idea. Tools like Smushit, PNGCrush or PNGOUT do a great job, optimizing images. But I don't want to call external executables via PHP and I can't code stuff like that on my own at the moment.
I will optimize the color mode for PNG files soon. At the moment everything is saved as PNG-32, that is not optimal.
