imagecreatefromjpeg is a native GD function and not part of the Intervention\Image namespace. Code examples might help.

When you say "Yah it was my server" what exactly was the problem? I am facing a similar issue, gd is compiled into PHP and the function works in some VirtualHosts but not others.

From what i remember, I ultimately found out GD was not installed, check your phpinfo() and double check its activated first

Thanks for the reply. I found the problem thanks to you phpinfo() tip. PHP compilation was not finding libjpeg so I manually specified a path with --with-jpeg-dir=...

As for the works on some virtuals hosts but not others I'm guessing I was testing with a png on those other servers.

This can be pretty obscure. You might actually have GD install, but not set up for JPEG. See here http://php.net/manual/en/function.imagecreatefromjpeg.php#70832
