The change log states that COOK-3306 is included in 3.0.0 https://github.com/poise/application/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md#v300. The docker-registry-cookbook does not actually use Chef::Resource::ApplicationBase directly. Maybe it's one of the application cookbooks that is causing the issue. Do you have a stack trace?

Yes. Actually it's application_nginxand application_python which both uses the depreciated Chef::Resource::ApplicationBase. For example application_nginx/resources/nginx_load_balancer.rb:21.

My Berksfile.lock looks like

  application (3.0.0)
  application_nginx (2.0.2)
    application (~> 3.0)
    nginx (>= 0.0.0)
  application_python (3.0.0)
    application (~> 3.0)
    gunicorn (>= 0.0.0)
    python (>= 0.0.0)
    supervisor (>= 0.0.0)

and it works here.
