i am seeing the same behavior. i use vim-ipython together with the qtconsole. whenever there is a lot of output to the console, vim slows down severely. this can be repaired for a little while by manually deleting the contents of vim-ipythons ipython console (ggdG). this is not really a workable solution though.

potentially related random observations: i also use :setlocal autoread on the logfile written out by ipython with %logstart. furthermore, when i do :autocmd i get several commands related to vim-ipython that look to be duplicates of each other.

maybe there is a way to let the vim-ipython console do some sort of `tail -f`` on the ipython console output instead of retaining absolutely everything? this would already help although i'm not sure it would fully solve the issue.

I faced this issue, too. It slows down my whole vim
