My name is Jacob Torres. I'm a writer, web developer, and accessibility consultant, and I'm absolutely obsessed with learning and creating.

My favorite passtime is researching new things; there's no technology or problem I'm unwilling to tackle. I strive for excellence and mastery in everythingI do.

I have 4+ years of experience with Python, SQL, Java, and JavaScript. I'm actively learning TypeScript and Scala, and I plan on delving into C++ and Julia in the future, among others.

• Story Builder: A Django web app for writers to organize their ideas into solid story structures.
• Travel Planner: A full Stack Web Application for making integrated travel plans all on one platform. I'm building it in Angular and Spring Boot, with plans on implementing several third-party API's and Kafka for data streaming.

• Random String Machine: A Flask application for creating up to 100 strings of up to 100 randomly-generated characters. The application allows for user preference in which types of characters (lowercase letters, uppercase letters, numbers, and/or special characters) will be included in the strings.
• Xetra ETL data pipeline: A Python pipeline for reporting on daily trends in Xetra Stock Exchange data.
• Take-Home Income Calculator: A Python module which prompts the user for a prospective salary, tax rate, and other expenses as a percentage. It prints out the expected hourly, monthly, and yearly net income, as well as an affordable monthly rent payment based on said income.
• Task Tracker: A commandline and web utility for managing tasks and goals.
• Scribble Stadium Arcade: cleaned, transferred, and built a data pipeline in the cloud using AWS.
• Spotify Song Suggester: Developed a Flask application to host a custom Nearest Neighbors model for song suggestion with Spotify.
• Airbnb Optimal Price: Developed and fine-tuned a neural network to predict the optimal price of a user's Airbnb rental.
• Housing the Homeless: Collected, cleansed, and analyzed government housing data to statistically determine the effectiveness of various Housing and Urban Development (HUD) programs.
