There are a couple of ways to do this. First off, Jakefiles are just plain executable JavaScript, so you could define those arrays as variables:

var fileNames = ['a', 'b', 'c'];
file({'z': fileNames}, function () {
// Do something else with fileNames
});

Also, from inside a running task, "this" references the task itself. It's not documented, but the task has a "prereqs" property which is the list of those prereqs you've defined for the task.

Either of those should get you what you need.

Thanks, right now I use the first approach and I completely forget about this.
I think this should be documented somehow. tests/Jakefile is very useful for examples

I wasn't quite ready to document the use of "this" yet, because I wasn't completely sure if I wanted the public prereqs property to point to the list of string keys, or the prereq tasks themselves. I probably won't change it, so I may as well doc it. You could also add an example of usage in the test Jakefile and send me a pull request. :)
