You must set your settings.py to same TYPE, or you can cast type.

unfortunately, this still happens - and the reasons seems to be that https://github.com/jazzband/django-dbtemplates/blob/master/dbtemplates/management/commands/sync_templates.py#L19 assigns app_template_dirs by calling https://github.com/django/django/blob/master/django/template/utils.py#L107 which casts to tuple whereas DIRS is constructed as a list ;)

and of course, calling with -a or --app-first will trigger
