I can confirm, I have seen the similar warning, but did not investigate.

While this does fix the issue for us, it is strange that the message is shown even if the user is not using the sentinel client (with redis < 2.9).

Very strange! With fixes introduced on 3.6.1, it should be fixed. It need some additional research.

I have the same issue on heroku nodes, using redis-2-go, but without sentinel client installed.
