If I pass in max_levels=2 explicitly to mainmenu template tag, then it works.

Hi @adriaant. Did you run migrations first? You'll need to run python manage.py migrate wagtailmenus as part of the upgrade process, as MainMenu & FlatMenu models have additional fields.
