I have this problem too (as far as I can tell)
from sms-backup-plus.
I assume you mean Google Apps? I use it with mine by connecting using IMAP. Try the following settings:
Server: imap.gmail.com:993
Security: SSL (Required)
Authentication: Plain text
Username: Your full Google Apps email address
Password: Your password
The rest of the settings should be whatever you wish to use :)

Ah wow, great, that works. It was changing the authentication to plain text that did it.
I suggest 'jberkel' adds this into instructions for the app, or just makes plain text the default authentication if you enter a non-Google mail domain as part of the username.

I think that apart from the XOAuth part and your login details, everything else is already entered correctly for Google Apps access. I'm fairly certain that Google Apps accounts can't use XOAuth based authentication, too.
The problem is that the settings entered don't just apply to Google Apps with IMAP access: You can use any IMAP-based mail provider, as Gmail's 'labels' are nothing more than IMAP folders.

Weird that regular Gmail is fine with XOAuth, but apps accounts don't do it. I guess that apps accounts are always playing catch-up with new Gmail features.

Looking into it further, I have found that Google Apps apparently CAN use OAuth, but it's not working in this app.
jberkel, if you need a Google Apps email address to test this with, let me know and I can hook you up.

i just tried XOAuth with my google apps account, it worked fine. be sure to select "sign in with a a google apps account" (screenshot)
can someone please verify this again?
from sms-backup-plus.
I tested this and it still wasn't working. I then left it for a while and went back once SMS Backup+ had closed, and tested again, and it suddenly started working with XOAuth: Maybe the app needs to reload its settings correctly once XOAuth has been re-enabled?
from sms-backup-plus.
I have tried both the OAuth and the plain text method and both ways give me a login error stating: "please make sure you enabled IMAP in your Gmail account settings". My account is (and always has) had IMAP enabled. What am I missing?
Also, with the screenshot that you posted jberkel, I don't get when/where I am supposed to be able to select that option? On my phone I am already logged into my google apps account and all I have to do is select "grant access"... which works fine, until I actually try to run the backup and get the error I mentioned.
