This feature could be possible, if there is a c library that implement reading embedded album covers.
At the moment myMPD don't read tags directly, it uses only the mpd protocol to access tags.

Because I gave up mympd due to tag issues.

Reopen it now that tag issues are resolved at mympd 4.5.0.

myMPD is updated and the coverextract plugin is enabled.
I see the extracted cover in the music folder, however, the embedded cover does not show.
Is metadata necessary to show the embedded covers? I do not see any other reason.
For your information, Cantata shows the embedded covers without metadata and extracting covers in music folders.

No metadata is needed for the coverextract feature. Can you set loglevel to debug and send me the output?

musicdirectory was not properly setup in mympd.conf and it works fine now.

Embedded covers seem not to be shown for the songs with Korean folder or filename, while English is fine.

I can reproduce this issue with special german characters in filenames.
It was a locale issue with mediainfo. I fixed it accordingly to MediaArea/MediaInfo#134.

Please compile from master and give it a try.

Yeah, embedded covers extract in /var/lib/mympd/covercache/ and shows fine!
