That's an interesting question--I don't know... making it part of dialect might be useful, but that'd be a question for @zzzeek

If he thinks it'd be a good fit, I'd be happy to submit a PR upstream to sqlalchemy, but that's up to him.

we don't have complete support for even regular views right now. the recipes are simple enough it's less maintenance for us to just have people roll what they need.

I'm a big fan of 3rd party things because a. there is a lower bar to getting them working for people b. someone else can maintain them c. the APIs don't have to be perfect or as stable.

having something "included" is I guess nice that users don't have to search /choose for something but that adds more work for us and we have tons.

Sounds good to me. Maybe long term the sqlalchemy maintainers list will grow and eventually be able to have the bandwidth to explore adding this to core. Although TBH, when I originally wrote this, I got some things wrong until @zzzeek pointed them out, so IMO this has already benefited from the unofficial support of the core team.
