Thanks for the detailed report.
I just cut version 1.0.3 with the fix https://github.com/CloudBees-community/syslog-java-client/releases/tag/syslog-java-client-1.0.3
The jar should be available in Maven Central soon.

syslog-java-client 1.0.3 is now available in Maven Central. Could you try it ?
For my understanding, do you use syslog-java-client with Jenkins Syslog Logger plugin or Jenkins Audit Trail plugin or you use the syslog-java-client outside of these Jenkins plugins?
