I've adopted a two stage approach. I have a markdown file talk.md
for the body of the document to simplify slide creation. It gets converted by pandoc into talk.tex
. And I have a separate tex file main.tex
that sources talk.tex
. main.tex
includes document preamble and \begin{document}
and end{document}
.

Since I came here via Google, I'll note that adding the option -s
(for "standalone") makes pandoc generate a self-contained LaTeX file.
