I'm not sure what's going on and I can't really help to debug since I don't own a machine running Windows. If you wanted to debug this on your own, it should be pretty simple. The grunt-exec source code is pretty simple.

Hi, i solved it: an issue with my windows path.
For info in case somebody else get the same issue, just check your C\Windows\System32\ is in your path variables.
It did the trick for me

I was hitting this too - it seems that the reason is:

• grunt-exec uses node's child_process module to exec the command (https://github.com/jharding/grunt-exec/blob/master/tasks/exec.js#L53)
• node's child process module routes all commands through cmd.exe, without specifying a PATH for it (https://github.com/joyent/node/blob/b19b60a05c30fa4108c37ddfcabb9313655af652/lib/child_process.js#L611)

I'll open an issue upstream, since even if the issue is essentially "WONTFIX, you need to update the PATH", node should still output an error to that effect rather than failing silently.
