Thus song was written by Marc Alan Schelske. We visited with a congregation where this was sung and it was very uplifting. I believe we can benefit from this simple song.

@Ibab642 and @crazycub212 :

I have completed my research of Just For Today as well as the typesetting. Please look over the research and the words and let me know whether you think this hymn should be added to our hymnal, and any changes you would like to make to it (if any). My research is contained in the README.md file as usual. It can be found here: just_for_today/README.md.

The results of my typesetting can be found in the review section if you're interested. But I'm not asking you to review the correctness of the typesetting - other folks will be doing that. That can be found here: Review/Just For Today.

To complete this review, just reply to this message with your comments and those comments will be automatically added to the issue that is tracking Just For Today. Alternatively, you can add a comment directly (or edit a previously posted comment) on the issue page directly - Issue 26.

Using the following rubric:

  1. Copyright is correct
  2. CCLI information is correct
  3. Composer and Poet is correct
  4. Notes are correct
  5. Words are correct
  6. Layout looks good
  7. Music and words on slides look big enough and are easy to read

Here is my review:

  1. Yes
  2. Yes
  3. Yes
  4. I agree with all of the note choices.
  5. 2nd verse, 3rd system: Maybe there should be a comma after "desire" and before "when"?
  6. Layout looks good in the songbook format; it will just need to be stated by the song leader if both verses will be sung and then the refrain or if they will treat the refrain as a chorus. 1st verse, slide 2: the word narrow seems like it could be split between the two notes.
  7. Yes

In response to @pianoman5001

  • Agree with adding a comma after "desire" and before "when" in the 2nd verse, 3rd system.
  • I plan to treat the song as a Verse/Chorus form with the chorus after every verse. The data for PresentationCreator will reflect that as well. If the song leader wants to get "fancy" and omit the chorus after the first verse, they can certainly do that, and should in such cases instruct the congregation and make adjustments to the slides from the default.

In response to @timcaldwell

  • The capitalization is following standard poetic form with each poetic line (phrase) being capitalized.

I think the slides version of this song could greatly benefit from combining the voices since there are quite a few flags. It'll help to make the slides less "busy". Otherwise, I think this song is good to go and that this issue can be closed.

I'm reluctant to make the slides different from the sheet music. I recommend we close this issue and open new issues on the specific changes we want to make. We'll resolve those issues in our next pass.
