The problem is that when the DM sets the permissions to owner for a player, the loot npc is now owned by this player. And because the loot npc has no vision, the background changes to black because the player has now choosen the npc loot token with no vision. You can use tab to cycle between tokens to verify that that the npc loot token is indeed owned.

On second thought I don't think this is a bug anymore. Just set the chest token with Has Vision and your good to go!

In foundry 0.7.1 there is a new feature that fixes this issue:

When a player controls a Token that does not have vision itself, their vision will now be unified with other observed tokens. This will work better for summons or familiars where the user does not benefit from the Token's perspective.

The backgound vision dosen't change to black anymore.
