Yes, the gradualizer module is the public API.

The module ty is somewhat special. It is meant as an interim solution to the problem of type annotations in expressions. Currently we cannot write X :: [integer()] in Erlang. The ty module enables writing ty:list(ty:integer(), X) which has the same effect. Because I wanted these "annotations" to be as lightweight as possible I chose a very short module name, and I even contemplated just calling it t. It could be argued that we should choose a long, likely unique module name and that users of the module will simply have to import all functions to avoid writing the module name in the first place.

People have argued in the past that we should prefix all our modules with gradualizer_. I think that would probably be the right thing to do (perhaps with the exception of ty).
