Would also be handy for stand alone apps - IE, non-web based readers. Right now, the pagesaver, for instance, uses cookies, rather than localStorage.setItem or database connectivity to do the job. Pulling down a copy of the book for local storage would mean as long as the user doesn't close their MobileSafari out completely (IE, load new websites, reboot phone, etc.) then the previous reading should continue seamlessly.

Support for offline caching exists within the componentry branch, and will be moved to master for the 1.1.0 release.

Ultimately, chose to use the native "Offline Caching" system offered by HTML5-ready browsers, rather than attempting to store media in a database and adjust URIs to look up the local cache first. This is a simpler solution, and less in Monocle's scope.
