@stailer This is a very good question. I have been using this plugin for many years but am starting to rethink how much JS I load onto my pages. I build sites on WordPress which already comes bundled with jQuery so this plugin might not be that big of a stretch.

As for usability, check out this blog. It breaks down the pros and cons of CSS versus JS.

I do like this plugin for slideshows.

I do not use it for background videos. For that, I use the HTML5 <video> markup

It has a decent amount of issues, but I have still found it to be useful.
