Might this be an gtk2/3 issue with GtkHBox? It seems to be deprecated. I have also issues to open builder files that I have generated in Glade 3.x in Glade 2.x.
What Glade version where you using?

Afair: glade-gtk2. The Python example is gtk2 only. GTK.jl was updates today, is this gtk3 now?

By default yes. This can be changed in deps/ext.jl: version = 2

You can click on the file and edit it, which will automatically generate a pull-request that Jamson (@vtjnash) can merge. I have no commit rights and therefore cannot simply change this.
