can you execute Gtk.GLib.g_type_name(Gtk.GLib.g_type(:gdk_pixbuf, Gtk.libgdk_pixbuf, :gdk_pixbuf))?

That's just wrong. I think you need to reinstall gtk.

from discussion, this is likely due to having multiple copies of glib on your machine, so Gtk and Julia dynamically link against different libraries
this is related (if only tangentially) to JuliaLang/julia#7004, and we might be able to improve it if we were to completely reimplement the dynamic library lookup logic (esp. now that you added support for reading DWARF/ELF/COEFF file headers)
