You have to change the port to 80. Please be aware that on Linux you need to be root to open port 80.
How to define the port is described in the documentation http://jabylon.org/standaloneInstallation.html

from jabylon.

Artjaazz avatar Artjaazz commented on July 27, 2024

Hello
Thanks for a quick reply.

It didn't seem to help: from the installation directory I ran: ./jabylon.sh --port 80 start
Here is what I see when I open my URL address, could you suggest anything?:

The app is running.
I can see the app in the browser working alright when I open with :8080.
./jabylon.sh --port 80 start didn't help with this.

I have: Ubuntu, Apache, MySQL, PHP... all required.
I believe I installed Tomcat too..
I have two virtual hosts, one with Wordpress and another for Jabylon on a subdomain.
What could be the reason? Thanks a lot.

from jabylon.

jutzig avatar jutzig commented on July 27, 2024

You did not mention before that you are using Apache. In that case, disregard what I said before and go back to port 8080.
Jabylon does not run in Apache like e.g. a PHP application would, Jabylon comes with its own webserver.
It sounds like what you want to do is to use Apache as reverse proxy to delegate requests to Jabylon.

Hello
Thanks.

I've managed to install Jablylon, works nicely.
I created a clean server, and had to install JDK, without JDK it didn't work as a standalone app...
Does it support PO files? I see it supports .properties, Android and iOS strings -- are these all formats it supports?
Also, is there a way to upload work files directly into the app for translation, instead of feeding strings from a depository?

Properties, Android, iOS, XLIFF for import/export and TMX for translation memory. No PO, but additional formats can be added by plugins and contributions are welcome.

Yes, files can be uploaded. Either through the web ui or REST api.

Hi Johannes,

Thanks for your answer.

I have the following question, it may seem strange but I don't know the
answer:

Is your documentation open-sourced too? Meaning can one publish it in their
Wikis?

Best,

Artem

Where can I find/locate UI images so that I can replace the Jabylon logo, for

Also how about changing the color scheme of the app?

Thanks! I've found that and replaced the logo/favicon. I actually forked your
Jabylon project on GitHub.

But as I am not a dev, I can't figure out how to compile the zip package like
the standalone one on your Releases page. Because I will install Jabylon as a
standalone app.

Could you suggest what I need to do? I'm not asking to give me a tutorial,
just a suggestion, and then I'll look it up on the Internet and try to do it.

Thanks a lot in advance.

jutzig avatar jutzig commented on July 27, 2024

You need to install Apache Maven and a Java JDK.
Then open a terminal, switch to the directory of the repository and type

mvn clean install

That will assemble everything.
The standalone zip will appear in

releng/standalone/target

Hi Johannes,

I was able to do all the above, but in the end the app didn't run. So right
now I'm using the source build.

And I'm having issues uploading content into a project.

When I try to upload xliffsamplefile.xliff on this page, I get that error
(invalid zip archive); and when I try to zip the .xcliff file, it syas wrong
file name:

Could you suggest anything? Thanks.

Best,

Artem

It builds both the war and the standalone.
The file you want is located here:

Thanks. I have managed to do that, but Maven generated actually a
standalone
war package...

Could you suggest: How to make a standalone zip to install Jabylon as a
standalone?

You need to install Apache Maven and a Java JDK.
Then open a terminal, switch to the directory of the repository and type

mvn clean install

That will assemble everything.
The standalone zip will appear in

releng/standalone/target

Am 08.10.2016 23:43 schrieb "Artjaazz" [email protected]:

Thanks! I've found that and replaced the logo/favicon. I actually forked
your
Jabylon project on GitHub.

But as I am not a dev, I can't figure out how to compile the zip package
like
the standalone one on your Releases page. Because I will install Jabylon
as a
standalone app.

Could you suggest what I need to do? I'm not asking to give me a
tutorial,
just a suggestion, and then I'll look it up on the Internet and try to
do
it.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Best,

Artem

Great, thanks.

I have also the following tech question:

Where can I find/locate UI images so that I can replace the Jabylon
logo,
for
example, with my logo?

Also how about changing the color scheme of the app?

I couldn't find these files... I'm just trying to understand where I
can
customize the UI.

Hi Artem,

You are talking about the content of the website? It is generated from
the
sources in the github repository so the same license applies. In other
words, yes you can use the documentation.

Hi Johannes,

Thanks for your answer.

I have the following question, it may seem strange but I don't know
the
answer:

Is your documentation open-sourced too? Meaning can one publish it
in
their
Wikis?

Best,

Artem

Does it support PO files? I see it supports .properties, Android

Properties, Android, iOS, XLIFF for import/export and TMX for
translation
memory. No PO, but additional formats can be added by plugins and
contributions are welcome.

Also, is there a way to upload work files directly into the app
for
translation, instead of feeding strings from a depository?

Yes, files can be uploaded. Either through the web ui or REST api.
