I can't say which thread is more costly, since the threads are independent of each other from an execution profiling point of view.
I could keep track of thread states (for example whether you're running or sleeping) or how long a thread is running for. That would give you a view into where your CPU time is being spent. Would that help address this issue?

Apologies, I think I meant something slightly different which is to collapse the separate threads into 1 tree . Assuming that all samples have equal "cost" whether cpu or elapsed time it should work I think.
Afaik this is what all other profiling tools do that I have used to date whether instrumenting or sampling (doesn't make it correct though!), so would be interested if reporting per thread is more correct and therefore I need to adjust my expectations/experience.
This would be an option as the current per thread split also I am sure will have it's uses.

Ahh, I'm with you now! Collapsing into one tree is absolutely reasonable. I've had someone else request that. I'll rename this issue so to reflect that.
