Jep, instead of 'cheating' in the POM it would be great to have it uploaded to
central!

Voting for this issue.

It is not a rare case nowadays that people are using maven to develop android
apps.
Serious applications can't stand using boilerplate and cumbersome ant,
especially then it comes to instrumenting your code and managing it's
dependencies.

Moreover, meanwhile Android SDK team works on complete gradle support for
Android and wants to use gradle as replacement for ant in Android SDK. If
you'll try Android Studio you'll see that it suggests you to use gradle as
default build system for your project. Since gradle is compatible with maven
dependency system and can use dependencies from Maven Central, it would be
great to have this library in Maven Central as well. You could also store your
downloads in Maven Central completely, without using Google Code for this stuff.

Maintaing random jars or code that your don't own is very annoying in your
project. This would really streamline things.

Another vote for hosting the JAR in Maven Central. I currently am hosting my
own Maven server to keep unhosted Maven dependencies like these accessible for
my projects.

After two years, this is still an issue? Let's get this into Maven Central
before the project reaches end of life. Is there anything we can do to help?

Really, please add to maven central. Priority must be "extreme"

Whole this project is imho pointless as of official HttpClient 4.3.3 release
from Apache HttpComponents team

https://hc.apache.org/httpcomponents-client-4.3.x/android-port.html

Yes, since at last Apache Http Client is now there and prilovides not only
port but some more improvements for Android, this project might be
considered obsoleted. See apache httpclient-android in central.

Oh thank you.

Note: obviously see "HttpClient for Android" on the website and not the
standard version
