For some reason it can't delete the temp folder according to your screenshot. It didn't even reach waifu2x.

i'm unclear on where the log is but here's this for now

@sryug all logs in the same directory where your video2x.py - video2x/bin/. Their names are like error_log_%date%-%number%.%number%

Could you please post the error log content?

I don't seem to have that.
error.

it is successfully deleting the temp folder though. I've watched it run, fill out the folder with images then poof disappear once it hits 50% and claims it has completed the operation.

@sryug which graphics card do you have? I had the same behavior on my nvidia grahics card when I tried to use gpu upscaling method without installed CUDA Toolkit.

from video2x.

sryug avatar sryug commented on July 16, 2024

it's a 1080gtx

from video2x.

Smarthard avatar Smarthard commented on July 16, 2024

ok then try to download and install this - CUDA Toolkit 10.1.

sryug avatar sryug commented on July 16, 2024

I just did and it did not fix the issue. I used the network installer from the page

from video2x.

Smarthard avatar Smarthard commented on July 16, 2024

@sryug in your very first message on the bottom of screenshot Permission Error has occured. But command prompt has runned with administrator rights. Hm... Maybe something is blocking this folder. I not sure.
Did you try any other video to upscale? Try to upscale demo sample for example

from video2x.

sryug avatar sryug commented on July 16, 2024

the sample video gives the same results. i've done a bunch of different videos of different lengths and get the same exact result every time. it cuts out at 50% progress.
half

I don't understand what is happening at 50% is the program starting some new operation at that point? according to the command line it has only finished upscaling half the images that it extracted. so I assume it is not even at the point where it recompiles it all into a video.
Is there a way to change the temp folder? I can set it to my desktop or C: and see how that goes.

Is there a way to change the temp folder?

I only know that in config file (video2x.json) you may specify input_path and output_path. Note that you need to escape backslashes in paths like that: C:\\Users\\th3_smart\\

I succeeded in changing the temp folder. you have to edit the line at the bottom "video2x_cache_folder" change the false statement into whatever file path you want.

unfortunately this didn't solve the issue

also I now realize it is not actually failing at 50% that is just the workload spread across two threads. so it's actually getting to 100% in upscaling the frames but fails to compile them into a video.

@sryug it IS actually failing at 50%. Progress of both threads are calculated.

Upscaling Progress: 50%|#########9 | 293/588 [05:54<05:20, 1.09s/it]?

The ??????? is error message printed in Japanese since waifu2x-caffe output is in Japanese. You'll have to change your cmd codec, otherwise we won't be getting any useful information out of that.

ok. I don't know what that means could you point me in the right direction?

i'm unclear on where the log is but here's this for now

@sryug all logs in the same directory where your video2x.py - video2x/bin/. Their names are like error_log_%date%-%number%.%number%

Not quite. Most logs are only printed on screen to both stdout and stderr. Only Nvidia errors will be saved to the log format that you mentioned.

instead of trying to fix waifu2x-caffe though, have you tried waifu2x-converter-cpp?

sryug avatar sryug commented on July 16, 2024

I've discovered a fix of sorts. if I limit it to one thread it works.
of course it's quite slow when I do this. I'll try the other converter later today once I figure out how to install it.

@sryug ok, glad to hear. Please keep me posted.
This is the only reported case for something similar.

This issue has been here for quite a long time without further updates. I'm closing the thread for now. If you still experience problems, feel free to reopen the issue.
