Great question π (π that's actually just a github emoji)
I'm just using the built-in mechanism for Macs ο£Ώ. You can read up π on that here. Basically just hit the β + β + space key combination and up pops the emoji chooser:
I find it makes commit messages more entertaining and expressive π
