  • 1 for this feature. although i would suggest to create separate sitemap index files for each namespace.

my reason for needing this is that i have one relatively small set of pages that are added and deleted often and another huge set of pages that are fairly stable and it takes a long time to generate the latter sitemap because of some complex calculations that i have to do to figure out which priority to give to each link)

Hi guys,

I'm working on a solution to this problem now. It will allow you to create different indexes and name your sitemaps whatever you want, while specifying which links go where.

Question for you: I'm going to let you specify the sitemap name e.g. :videos as a simple symbol. Then I want to increment that as each sitemap becomes full, so it would generate files like 'videos.xml, videos1.xml, videos2.xml' etc. There could be an option to force include the index so the files generated are like 'videos1.xml, videos2.xml, videos3.xml'. Do you think that's neccessary? I don't really think so.

thanks! i don't understand exactly what you mean but for me the naming scheme has little importance.
