This is still a significant issue which hampers dependency updates in third-party tooling like Cloud Controller Manager, which relies on the apiserver module. The version of go.opentelemetry.io/contrib/instrumentation/google.golang.org/grpc/otelgrpc
used (v0.42.0) even has a CVE attributed to it (CVE-2023-47108).
Edit: Looks like this dependency hell has been solved actually, pulling the latest releases for all OTEL packages now works as expected (1.27.0/0.52.0 at this time).
