Well, not sure. I think the purpose of 'estimate' is not calculation of expected due date but rather the initial estimate of work to compare against actuals. For example, an issue may have duration 1 day and estimated work of 40 hours. So if you think duration of your issue will be, say, 2 days, you should manually set the due date to 'start date + 2 days'.

Hello Alexey,

Ok you can have this view of the problem (this is not mine : I would like the gantt to be easiest like MS Project ; no start or due date defined, should give never the less a good view of your estimated project).

So maybe the best way of your plugin is to let the start date and the due date unchanged when adding a before or after relation to a task. Is this more acceptable ?

Hi! I agree this is more acceptable, but I just realized there is a reason I am assigning due date for a tasks with only start date specified. The problem is that Redmine Gantt just doesn't display tasks with zero duration. So setting due date to start date + 1 was just a workaround to allow some tasks to be displayed at all.

Now I think that you are right and I should keep at least due date unchanged if it wasn't set, and instead update Gantt module so it displays tasks with zero duration as if they had duration == 1 day. I'll take a look at this till the end of the week.

I changed how this works. Now due_date is left empty if it was empty, but tasks with zero duration are shown on Gantt chart.
