By the way, during the couple of days I was still using the old Zukitwo GTK theme with GNOME 3.14, this issue with Firefox didn't arise. Maybe this will help you troubleshoot this.

Just noticed it doesn't concern only Firefox, Poedit is also affected for example:

Make sure gtk-engine-murrine gtk-engines are installed and working.

If that's not the problem you may have to chmod 755 every folder and file in /usr/share/themes/Zukitwo. Or make sure that there is a gtk-2.0 folder in the Zukitwo folder.

The Zukitre firefox theme is designed for the Zukitre gtk theme, so it may not look as consistent with Zukitwo. But to use it just place the userChrome.css file in ~./mozilla/firefox/*.default/chrome and restart firefox.

It wasn't a problem of engines, nor of permissions, but your advice reminded me of something written in the INSTALL file (provided in DevianArt's archive): to make a symlink between ~/.local/share/themes/Zukitwo/ and /usr/share/themes/Zukitwo/.

I always try to install themes and such within home directory, and this time I removed the symlink that I had previously created for the 3.12 version before reinstalling. Now I have two entries for Zukitwo in Tweak Tools like before, but both of them work with gtk2 applications :-)
