Maybe --init-meta could be made into --wipe-meta (or a tristate option), to cover cases where the metadata area was initialized ie. by a previous OS install and luksFormat didn't clear it.
--passphrase would probably be better implemented as --key-file to mimic cryptsetup functionality.

I'm fine with both, I'm not a fan of passing passwords on the command line. Using a file for the luks key would be fine.
