You assessment is correct Slider doesn't currently expose any methods to change the start or end attributes.

Based on this article I think you should be able to tkinter to change the underlying Scale components to config.

Something like:

gz.tk.configure(to=the_new_value)

Adding start and end properties to Slider to allow changes to the scale at runtime seems like a good idea.
