Hi, does qahirah support rendering latex equations to the SVGSurface? (if the user has LaTeX environment installed on the machine)
It would be interesting to try and implement qahirah in the browser, using Rapydscript or Brython with Canvas instead of Qahirah, any idea of what is involved in splitting the backend out ?
Would you consider moving to CFFI in the future?
It's supposed to be much more performant in Pypy. OTOH, I realise this would be quite a big step.

Is it possible to draw to an SVGSurface with qahirah and save as the result an svg file?
I found that I can create a surface with
pix = qah.SVGSurface.create(filename = "test.svg", dimensions_in_points = (600, 600))
and draw to it - I tried this in the paths example. The output file is created but remains empty.
So, is SVG output supported, and is there a function that should be called at the end to actually write the file?
Thank you for a great library!
I was searching for a python cairo/freetype library for macos/openbsd and found your file can be easily adapted to work on them as follows. (the same code works on freetype2.py)
Will you incorporate this kind of small cross-paltform code ?
...
import sys
SYSLIB_LINUX = ["libc.so.6","libfreetype.so.6","libfontconfig.so.1","libcairo.so.2"]
SYSLIBS = {
"darwin":["libc.dylib","libfreetype.dylib","libfontconfig.dylib","libcairo.dylib"],
"openbsd6":["libc.so","libfreetype.so","libfontconfig.so","libcairo.so"],
}.get(sys.platform,SYSLIB_LINUX)
cairo = ct.cdll.LoadLibrary(SYSLIBS[3])
...
Is there any way through which i can generate arc text. Like the one imagemagick does ?
If you make it a Markdown file (it currently uses Markdown syntax, but doesn't have the extension), GitHub will render said Markdown to HTML and display it with nice formating.
Currently, it's just rendered as plain text which, while not a big issue, isn't as nice to read.
Does this have support for kerning?
